SNL's Feylin Still Funny; Miley Cyrus in Disneyland
Tina Fey and SNL kicked the ratings again on Friday night, as 10 million viewers tuned in to watch Fey's Sarah Palin in the mock VP debate. Deadline Hollywood Daily has the clip and Celebridiot calls it "by far the funniest sketch SNL has done in years." Buddy TV agrees that SNL "is best doing biting political satire." Palin joked to Politico that her gaffes in the Katie Couric interviews provided "job security to SNL writers. . . . I was just trying to keep Tina Fey in business," and Gothamist reports that Palin may actually appear on SNL herself. Vulture notes that SNL's numbers for this season are up almost 50 percent over last year so don't be surprised if Fey also plays Obama. (In Obama family news, Michelle will make her first Daily Show appearance on Wednesday night, reports HuffPo.)
Miley Cyrus took over Disneyland for her (early) sixteenth birthday party. "Organizers estimated over 5,000 people attended the special party, which cost $250 a ticket.
On the event's purple carpet--that's Cyrus' favorite color--the 'Hannah
Montana' star bragged that her parents bought her a new puppy for her
birthday." Um, they also rented out Disneyland! Cynthia Littleton of
Variety's Cynthia Littleton On the Air
got to go to the party and reports that it marked an invasion of
pre-teen, tween and teenage girls hopped up on adrenaline... and
cupcakes with two inches of lavender icing
on them that were handed out to each guest in honor of the occasion.
"My parents shut down Disneyland for me, so I'm good for a while," said
Miley (via Bunny with Fangs).
Finally, Serious Eats predicts that the East Village's Veselka, where Michael Cera and costar Kat Dennings eat in Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist, will become the next Magnolia Bakery (made famous by Sex and the City).
