Election 2008: McCain Readies a Comeback?

With a little more than three weeks to go, the Obama campaign seems to have the wind at its back (via Behind the Numbers), and is flush with cash (via HuffPo). Hot Air sees trouble on the other side with Palin and McCain at odds over how hard to hit Obama. McCain is set to unveil a new stump speech today, which paints him as a fighter but it doesn't qualify as a hail mary pass says Davidcorn.com. Donkelphant says it's probably too late to refocus the McCain campaign. But wait, is Drudge priming a McCain "reboot" narrative? asks FiveThirtyEight. Just in time too, with Bill Kristol saying the McCain campaign has become "pathetic " (ouch, via Think Progress). RealClearPolitics' aggregate of poll numbers shows Obama at +6, but it's still all over the map. The closer we get to Election Day, the nastier some of the comments get. The Virginia GOP chair compared Obama to Osama, and refused to back down after criticism from the McCain campaign (via TheModerateVoice). The racism issue still simmers. It's just the beginning says Neil Boortz; people are hypersensitive blogs PostBourgie; it's typical far-right boilerplate sez American Prospect. Whatever you think, racism's not dead yet writes Church of the Apocalyptic Kiwi.

And of course, there is one more debate, this Wednesday. McCain vows to 'whip' Obama's 'you know what' is the headline on Towleroad. This race is far from over, blogs The Liberal Lie, The Conservative Truth. "OVER?!?!? NOTHING's over until we decide" shouts The Jawa Report.
