Halloween Makeup, Green Trick or Treating

Instead of a store-bought costume this Halloween, try bloggers' cool makeup ideas. On the Edge reports that Halloween is makeup company MAC's biggest holiday, and invites artists to submit Halloween face charts each year; here's a video of the winners, and more are on MAC's Web site. Full Halloween tells you how to get that "recently punched look." Bionic Beauty teaches you how to create the old Hollywood movie starlet look. Secrets of Makeup is running a Halloween makeup contest: "I invite you to come up with your best haunting Halloween makeup. Create a frisky feline, a scary Skelton or your best burn victim. I want to see some creativity and skill." Winner, announced on October 31, gets a $50 makeup gift card.

Just Kiss 'N Makeup has also challenged the blogosphere to a contest, "Spook My Face!" And MAKE Blog has a tutorial on how to make a realistic scar with stitches. You can feel good while making yourself over: National Geographic's Green Guide says makeup is a healthier alternative to vinyl masks and fake teeth. "Vinyl is the least environmentally friendly plastic out there, and considering the disposable nature of Halloween, its eco-costs are really unnecessary." So wear your fake scar or oozing sore with pride!
