Michael Jackson Update: Kids, Leaks, and Tributes
It's been a few days since Michael Jackson's death, but the blogs are still spilling over with new developments, tributes, and (of course) speculation. Bloggers had wondered what was going to happen to the kids. A British tabloid reported that Debbie Rowe, who carried MJ's two older kids, has come forward claiming she "was artificially inseminated with sperm for both births from an anonymous donor" (via Stupid Celebrities Gossip)--except Radar Online says the Rowe interview never actually happened. But in the same (fake?) interview, Rowe also said she doesn't want custody of the kids and "expects never to have the tots darken her door" (via Amy Grindhouse). Radar Online reports that MJ's attorney said "Michael Jackson wanted his mother to raise his children if anything ever happened to him." TMZ says Jackson's mother, Katherine, was granted temporary custody of the kids today. And there were the inevitable leaks...
The UK Sun claimed over the weekend that MJ's autopsy details had been leaked, showing he was "a virtual skeleton--barely eating and with only pills in his stomach at the time he died." "Further details in the report supposedly point to a wig wearing anorexic body weighing about 112 pounds," notes The Inquisitr. TMZ says the report was "fabricated and completely false" and quotes the LA County coroner saying, "It is not accurate. Some of it is totally false." "I don't read it the same way as TMZ," writes Crazy Days and Nights. "Some of something being false is not the same as being completely false and fabricated. I just think TMZ is not exactly thrilled they didn't get the report first and so are trying to discredit The Sun."
Finally, the BET Awards last night were "completely overhauled as a tribute to Michael," reports mjsbigblog--"either because they love him so much or because it was a shoo-in for ratings," comments The Rap Up. Jamie Foxx dressed "as an 80s era Jackson--complete with the gloves" and did the moonwalk (via The Hollywood Gossip). Janet Jackson also spoke publicly for the first time; "it is heartbreakingly sad that she had to speak on the occasion of her brother's death," writes Pink is the New Blog. "While we felt her pain," says Seriously? OMG! WTF? "her father Joe Jackson's not-so-much during[the] interview on the red carpet at the Awards with CNN where he made sure to plug his record company." Z on TV thinks the entire show "brilliantly tapped into the wellspring of admiration, love, hurt and shock over his death that engulfed the show business community--particularly among Jackson's fellow black performers
