Sesame Street Celebrates 40 Years

clip_image002

Can you tell me how to get, how to get to Sesame Street? Today bloggers are celebrating the beloved show, whose 40th anniversary is coming up on November 10, inspired by the day's Google Doodle (Search Engine Roundup notes that international Google properties are featuring learning programs popular in those countries). "I was THERE. I think I watched the first episode. I had the 1970 album. I had the little paperback books that came out around the same time (The Sesame Street Book of Numbers and so on). We got Sesame Street Magazine," writes Dewey's Treehouse. "The show has also become a conduit for other branches of pop culture. (They say you haven't really made it as a star until you're a guest voice on 'The Simpsons,' but the 'Sesame Street' cameo is also worth a fortune in cultural caché.)," notes MTV Newsroom.

image  ToughPigs is watching--and writing up, in great detail--Sesame Street anniversary specials all week ("While this is going on, Bob, Gordon, and Susan are reminiscing over in Hooper's Store..."). Over at the official Sesame Street website, watch and vote on your favorite clips from the past 40 years.
