Buzz Builds for Boardwalk Empire
Bloggers are buzzing about the super-anticipated new HBO show, Boardwalk Empire, which premieres September 19. With the show, the Daily Beast says, "HBO has a chance to launch a series that will lure audiences still missing The Sopranos and The Wire." "This show is just a checklist for awesome. Steve Buscemi stars as a big wig in Atlantic City during the Prohibition era. Martin Scorsese directed the pilot episode and will be involved in the creative process. Terrence Winter, the Emmy-award winning writer of The Sopranos, writes and produces," says mancouch. TV By the Numbers tries to figure out just how expensive the pilot was to produce: $18 million? Closer to $30 million? "We sure hope it will fill the hole in our heart and our Sunday night schedule after the season finale of True Blood," says Jet Set Girls, noting also that Atlantic City is running a bunch of hotel and food promotions with HBO surrounding the show. After spending most of the summer hiding its huge muscles under loose-fitting shirts, Google has begun to flex.
